Problem & Approach
Startup investing is broken. It's an exclusive club, legally locking out 99% of the public while trapping investors in illiquid assets for a decade or more. Founders are isolated, forced to raise capital from a small circle of VCs instead of their true community. To address this, we built Plantify, a global marketplace on the Internet Computer blockchain to open early-stage investing to everyone.
Solutions & Impact
Plantify allows founders to raise capital directly from their community by issuing tokenized shares. For investors, we provide a curated marketplace of vetted startups and, crucially, a secondary market to trade those investments. This makes startup investing liquid for the first time, allowing everyday people to share in the success of companies they believe in.
Learning & Reflection
Building Plantify was a crucial learning experience. I worked closely with founders and retail investors to understand their pain points with the current venture capital system. This journey taught me that to build trust in a new financial platform, the user experience must be simple and transparent, which led to features like our 'AI Investment Banker.' Developing Plantify deepened my understanding of product management, blockchain technology, and how to build a Web2-simple user experience on top of powerful Web3 infrastructure.
